Sean retired from Vanguard on December 30, 2022 where he led the external recruiting team covering 5 divisions (FAS - Financial Advisor Services, IMG - Investment Management Group, PD - Planning and Development, IIG - Institutional Investor Group and International) as well the Data and Analytics and the User Experience talent domains for Vanguard. His team provided deep subject matter expertise and consultation to the hiring leaders in these five divisions and talent domains so that an effective strategy was defined and executed resulting in quality, diverse hires for Vanguard.  

Prior to leading this team at Vanguard, Sean served as Director of Recruiting for the Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, Delaware. That team provided recruiting service across the entire health system for all levels of talent from executive to entry level in acute care, long term care and home care.

Sean's career in human resources began in the U.S. Army during the last three years of his total of nine years of active duty service as a medical service corps officer. He led a team of recruiters that covered the states of Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania that recruited physicians, nurses and allied health providers for both the active and reserve components of the Army Medical Department.

Sean holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wheaton College, IL and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Michigan. He and Betty, his wife of 35 years, have raised six grown children and are the proud grandparents to six grandchildren.   Sean is an Army brat - born at Ft. Carson, CO to his now retired Army First Sergeant and JROTC instructor father and his incredibly patriotic Japanese mother.  He was raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (proud Yooper) and has lived in West Chester, PA since 1996.
